Holiday Lights Event at Lake Phalen Generates Family Fun and Needed Charity Funds.

IBEW's Holiday Lights in the Park event today announced it was donating $35,000 to four local charities, Second Harvest Heartland, Union Gospel Mission, St. Paul Parks Conservancy, and UnderConstruction. Over 40 nights, more than 53,000 visitors enjoyed the lighted holiday displays at St. Paul's Phalen Park with net proceeds from gate fees generating the glow of charitable donations.

"This year's light display was our largest yet and caught the attention of children, adults and the elderly and provided a wonderful way to get the whole family together while giving back to charity. It's become a community tradition," said Vicki Sandberg, IBEW Holiday Lights in the Park Co-Chair. "Each year the lights project has grown in popularity and the results are a testament to that."

As IBEW Holiday Lights in the Park lit the skies, "Home for the Holiday: A Minnesota Christmas Vol. 2" became the music of the season. Fifteen of Minnesota's finest musical artists donated their talents to produce the official Holiday Lights soundtrack which sold out at Phalen Park and helped generate funds.
"The success of the event was assured because of more than 327 volunteers from Woodbury's King of Kings church, electricians from IBEW and dozens of local residents," said Sandberg. "Thank you to the community members who volunteered thousands of hours to support the event and make it an annual tradition raising money for those in need throughout the Twin Cities."
